Dame lily-irl LG GBE DCB CT MVO PC, commonly known simply as Lily, is a British politician who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom between 5 November 2020 and 3 January 2021. She was the Leader of the Labour Party, having assumed the role for a second time on 15 August 2020 until 3 January 2021. She previously served as party leader between 1 January 2020 - 28 January 2020.
She was also the Leader of the Opposition between 15 August 2020 and 11 November 2020 until the collapse of the Blurple Government. She was the Member of Parliament (MP) for East of England (List) fromAugust 2020 until her resignation on the 3 January 2021 having previously been the MP for Essex (16 August 2019 - 28 February 2020) and an MP for North East (List) (8 May 2019 - 5 August 2019). She would then take up a Hereditary Peer as The Countess of Chafford Hundred.
In the so-called “Sunrise” coalition of 2019, Lily served in cabinet as Minister for the Cabinet Office. During the 13th term, she served in the dual role of Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government and Shadow Secretary of State for Democratic Reform.
After the 2021 general election and the subsequent formation of the “Rose” government, Lily became the Minister of State for Transport, and attends Cabinet in this role.
