TomBarnaby, 1st Marquess of Cholmondeley, Baron of Midsomer Norton KG GCB GCMG MBE PC is a British Coalition! politician who most recently served as the Opposition Chief Whip in the shadow cabinet of Padanub and as Member of Parliament for Essex. Previously, he served as Deputy Leader of the Conservative Party from April 2020 to November 2020. He served as First Secretary of State and Home Secretary in the “Blurple 3” Government under CheckMyBrain11 and was MP for South West London from September 2019 to November 2020.
In the Yukub Ministry, he served as First Secretary of State and Secretary of State for Defence, where he secured a record £11 billion extra in annual funding for the Ministry of Defence, raising spending to 2.5% of GDP. TomBarnaby has become known as one of the most outspoken China hawks in Westminster, consistently warning of the threat they pose to the United Kingdom.
Prior to that he was Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade, Leader of the House of Commons and Lord President of the Council, and Chief Whip of the House of Commons and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasury. As International Trade Secretary, TomBarnaby led the government’s planning of Donald Trump’s 2020 state visit to the United Kingdom and spearheaded its freeports campaign. His name was on the final Brexit deal when it was read in 2021.
Under Model-Mili, TomBarnaby was first appointed Minister of State for the Ministry of Defence with the right to attend cabinet in December 2019, and a month later as Secretary of State for Health. In the former role, he penned a comprehensive review on procurement and veterans policy, and in the latter had a particular focus on improving NHS efficiency and reducing waste.
As Home Secretary, TomBarnaby oversaw the Blurple 3 government’s successful response to the major Nature Revolution protest and saw off major disruption to London’s transport network. He was also heavily involved in the government’s response to the Russian Submarine disaster in October 2021.
In December 2020, TomBarnaby founded the Democratic Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China, a cross-party, international grouping for elected representatives to coordinate opposition to the human rights abuses that the Chinese Communist Party is widely accepted as perpetrating. He gave an address, in his capacity as DIPAC Chair, at the D12 summit in 2021 - a project which, in government the previous year, he initiated.
Party roles he has held as a Conservative include Chief Whip, Deputy Whip and Deputy Chairman.
